Little Mouse's Big Book of Beasts by Emily Gravett

My review

Okay, where to start!? Unfortunately we didn't really get this picture book. We got that it was a cheeky little mouse's adventure through a big book of beasts but it really wasn't for us if I'm completely honest. It is a super fun book but we found it didn't read well out loud, which is a must in our book!

There is so much to like about this book:

We loved the illustrations and the super interactive bits that had us laughing out loud.

The cute little mouse, Who's re-telling is very charming and funny.

We loved the scrappy feel to the book and and how the little mouse really made it his own.

We especially loved the super mouse at the end.

All in all this is very good in the illustration department and very unique with all it's little flappy and scrappy bits, but we feel that it really did fall short in the readability department.

2.5 / 5 Stars

Pirate Pete & Princess Poppy: New Shoes by Amanda Li & Melanie Williamson

My Review

This New Shoes book is very wonderful indeed! It very gently and reassuringly takes us through what it's like to go out shopping for new shoes. Lets face it, new experiences can be quite frightening for little people.

What I liked the most is that both Princess Polly and Pirate Pete feature in this book, making it just perfect for both girls and boys. I also really liked that it's very good for a wide age range, my 4 year old and 9 month old both loved it!

Pirate Pete and Princess Polly both need new shoes, so they both go shoe shopping. It's a bit of a fun adventure, finding the right pair and trying on lots of different shoes on. They even have Hooray for new shoes button, which is another little plus!

The illustrations are big, bold, bright and very eye catching. We loved watching Pirate Pete and Princess Polly try on and choose their new shoes. Because it's a Ladybird book, we also adored finding the little ladybird on each page.

This New Shoes board book is a real winner that we could easily recommend!

4 / 5 Stars!

Skullbones Island: Pirate Playtime! Sticker Book!

My Review

This fabulous activity book has over 200 stickers and is an all round fun fest that will delight and occupy for hours on end!

Anybody that has kids will know how much they adore stickers, they also know how annoying it is to have them randomly stuck all over the house! This book is brilliant because there is a place in the book for each and every sticker - yay!

The wonderful characters of Skullbones Island have become quite a favourite in our house, so we were very excited to have this book in our hands.

On each page there is something fun to read and also something exciting to create and make! There are a lot of scenes to set and I can guarantee kids will have the best of fun doing it!

Skullbones Island: Pirate Playtime is a great activity book for boys and girls alike. It has the most fantastic illustrations and is just a blast! We just wished it was a little longer.

4 / 5 Stars!

Doug: The Bug That Went Boing by Sue Hendra

My Review

This is a super fun adventure tale that is full of all round silliness and is a very enjoyable read indeed!

Doug and Trevor are best friends, but like all best friends they have silly arguments and squabbles! They are happily playing a game of berry ball when the ball gets stuck, and the pair have a bit of a falling out over who's turn it is to retrieve the ball.

When Doug goes to get the ball something unexpected happens and he finds himself far away from Trevor! Doug goes on a wild bouncing adventure, trying to find his way back to his friend.

This story is full of action, adventure and best of all friendship! We thought Doug and Trevor learnt a very valuable lesson: To always share and take turns!

The illustrations are big bold, super bright and definitely striking! We didn't quite know what delights to look at first!

The ending is lovely and had us very pleased!

4 / 5 Stars!

Laika the Astronaut by Owen Davey

My review

Laika the Astronaut is a very special book that is both unique and brilliant!

Poor little Laika is a stray dog running round the busy streets of Moscow! She yearns for a family and a home to call her own. One day she is chosen for a very special job - she is trained as the very first space dog!

This super brave dog's journey paved the way for us to follow in her footsteps. It is a beautiful journey that is very moving and heartfelt.

The illustrations are brilliantly quirky and most definitely stand out from the crowd! We adored watching little Laiks's mission unfold on each bold page.

This is actually a true story and while no one knows what became of Laika, this tale ends in a wonderfully hopeful way that had us smiling from ear to ear!

This is a gorgeous picture book that every child needs to have on their shelves!

A BIG 5 Stars!

Shhh! Don't Wake the Royal Baby! by Martha Mumford & Ada Grey

My Review

This is such a super fun picture book that takes us on a Royal kind of adventure!

With the newest addition to our Royal family I think everybody has gotten Royal baby fever! So this delightful little book is the perfect way to mark the special little guys arrival.

Every baby cries and in this story the Royal baby is no exception. He waaah waaah waaaah's all day long and everybody tries everything to get him to sleep, but there are lots of pesky nuisances to keep him awake all the way!

We adored watching all the super fun ways the Royal's try to get the little guy to nod off. I can guarantee there will be plenty of smiles and giggles watching each Royal; preform their mission.

This is a perfect little picture book to celebrate our new Royal baby. We enjoyed all the silliness that is packed into every page. The illustrations are fabulous and we loved how they so wonderfully resemble our Royal family. (Also the little corgis are soooo cute).

Shhh! Don't Wake the Royal Baby is a real keeper that we will enjoy reading again and again!

You Choose by Nick Sharratt & Pippa Goodhart

My Review

You Choose is a big winner and is right up there with the fantastic Just Imagine!

What we like most about this is it's simplicity! Each and every page leads a child to the right point to unleash their very wild imaginations. They get to pick and choose where they would like to go, have as a friend, where to sleep, what to do for fun and lots more!

Making their own decisions is very exciting to a child and they will simply love pouring over each and every page to see what would be the perfect fit for them. There are even super stickers inside - yes STICKERS - yay!

The illustrations are truly one of a kind and kids won't know what to look at first. A real feast for the eyes!

We loved this big, bold and bright book that is full of decision making, talking points and tons of fun! We quite simply loved it!!

A BIG 5 Stars!

This Royal Baby by Zita Newcome

My Review

This is the most wonderful baby book ever!!

It is big, bold, bright and super sturdy - which is just perfect for those rough little fingers!

Everyone is talking about our fabulous new Royal Baby at the moment and what better way to honour him than with this brilliant book.

Each page has a different baby that does something different when the tabs are pulled. We have frowning faces, funny faces, tired faces and loving faces.

The best part is the little sing songing rhyming snippets on each page. My little guy simply loves this book and he sits and listens intently while making a fuss about the moving baby bits. It also winds down nicely for sleepy time - Yay!

This Royal Baby is thoughtfully put together and babies will have super fun looking at other babies. It takes us through lots of emotions and feelings and we think it is a big winner that we can very highly recommend!

A BIG 5 Stars!

Belle & Boo: Playday! Dress Up Sticker & Activity book by Mandy Sutcliffe

My Review

Aw, Belle and Boo are quite simply adorable in this super fun activity book.

Each page is filled with awesome things to do: Cupcake decorating, washing up, dressing up, spot the difference, puzzles and colouring in. Lily's favourite part has to be the dressing up, what little girl doesn't love to play dress up.

The stickers are a huge plus, kids absolutely love stickers! I loved sitting back and watching my 4 year old have the best of fun with this book.

Belle and Boo are gorgeous characters that are full of charm and wonder. This beautiful book will entertain for hours and is most definitely a big winner! We are already looking for our next Belle and Boo fix!

Goodnight Princess by Michelle Robinson & Nick East

My Review

Aw, this is an adorable bedtime book that is just perfect for any little princess out there!

The rhyming quality to this beautiful book is what makes it so special. It begs to be read out loud and  little ears will love to listen to that sing songy tune!

The storyline takes us through everything that is special to a lovely little lady. She says goodnight to each of her precious things in turn, then things wind down for a lovely sleepy bedtime ending!

The illustrations are very special indeed, they are super cute, eye catching and mainly consist of the colours pink and purple - what more could a little princess ask for?

A perfect book!

Snuggle and Cuddle Cloth Books

Igglepiggle Snuggle and Cuddle

 My Review

This Igglepiggle Snuggle and Cuddle cloth book is very cute indeed! It is the perfect 1st baby book and would make the best baby gift!

My baby loves this super soft snuggle book, he even takes it to bed! He loves looking at the big super bright pages, that have a fantastic In The Night Garden character on each one. His favourite page has to be the Tombliboo and it's spotty trousers page.

This is a wonderful book for babies that we could very easily recommend. It's also a great introduction to the well loved In the Night Garden world!

Ladybird Snuggle and Cuddle: Bouncy Lamb

 My Review

The Bouncy Lamb Snuggle and Cuddle book is a super fun daytime book, I say daytime because it is a crinkly book, which babies will just adore scrunching up!

On each vibrant page there is a new animal to meet and a new touchy feely bit to explore. My baby's favourite page is the front cover, it has a cuddly lamb with a super soft wooly coat - which he loves to feel.

There are plenty of different textures and lots to discover and learn in this fantastic little first book - we loved it!

A BIG 5 stars for both books!

Diary of a Christmas Wombat by Jackie French‏

 My Review

Unfortunately we really didn't see the point of this picture book! It's very silly and I would of liked to have said but the kids will find it fun, but my daughter looked at me when it was finished and she wasn't really getting the point either.

Saying all of that, I think this would be a good book for twitchy little people who can't sit still for long and would rather look at the pictures!

The storyline follows a wombat on his quest to find carrots! He even encounters some Christmas faces along the way....

What also annoyed me was the way it kept repeating carrots, carrots, carrots......Grrrrr!

Okay it's fair to say this was most definitely not the picture book for us! On a big plus side, the illustrations were super cute and very funny, we enjoyed them a whole lot!

1.5 / 5 Stars!

The Crunching and Munching Caterpillar: Storybook & Jigsaw by Sheridan Cain & Jack Tickle‏

My Review

This is a spectacular little jigsaw and book that managed to keep us entertained for hours!

The book is an exploring adventure read that takes us through the busy life of a caterpillar, who just longs to fly like the other flying insects! He meets lots of interesting flying creatures, never knowing the big surprise that awaits him.

This enlightening story is a fantastic way of teaching kids about the wonderful life of a caterpillar. We adored seeing all the brilliant little illustrations that brought each page to life!

The book comes in a beautiful box complete with jigsaw! The jigsaw is so much fun and will help kids with fine motor skills, while still having a blast. It took my daughter quite a few tries to master the jigsaw, but she was brimming with excitement when she completed it (with a little help).

Another huge plus is the way you can colour-in the reverse side of the jigsaw. It occupies for hours and kids will love to make this their own, while having some fun.

The Crunching and Munching Caterpillar book & puzzle is a big interactive winner that kids everywhere should have on their wishlists! We loved it!

A BIG 5 Stars!

Belle and Boo: My Favourite Things Sticker & Activity Book by Mandy Sutcliffe

My Review

Wow, Belle and Boo is a fabulous activity book that captures and holds children's attentions for hours! Yay!

We are new to Belle and Boo's world, so we were very pleased to get stuck into this and see such a gentle friendship between the pair. On each page there is a super fun activity to do, word searches, colouring in, puzzles, drawing and best of all stickering!!

Belle and Boo's favourite things are quite charming and are laid out so wonderfully throughout the book. Each page is attractive and filled with exquisite illustrations, but can be brought to life beautifully by your little one.

This is a super cute activity book that is full of entrainment and little learning bits and pieces to try. We loved getting to know Belle and Boo and their favourite things and we had the best fun doing it.

We just need to get our hands on the Belle and Boo books now! :)
